    Transparent backgrounds will not arrive for a while yet. Until Microsoft patch IE to render the png format properly, it wont happen. As it is you need a fancy javascript kludge to get png files with 24bit alpha to display with anything but a white background. It's a shame. You can do a lot with the alpha channel in pngs. Ok, use gifs you may say, but gif transparency is just crap ;)
