I went from something like this to something like this and almost quadrupled my earnings. The adlinks under the header don't perform all that well for me, but they do ok.
I agree, maybe not up to 1,000 people but we are definitely the minority. I would also disagree that people who know about them don't click the ads. I click the ads all the time if it is something that I am looking for.
I too agree...For example, i recently i saw an adword advertisement about adsense....It was like "Want to know how our member/pro made 500$ a day using adsense...It is really tempting..isnt it?? I hope anyone would have clicked who is keen to khow to earn more using adsense...It is the definitely the choosing of the words appearing in the adwords that makes a person click....
Another tip is to setup different channels and test out different color combinations. Especially if your site design has more than one major color.
That's a good one! A must for anyone that is looking to really optimise their ads - can't tell what is good and bad if you don't know what is getting clicks and what isn't.
Does it matter if ppl know about AdSense or not? Whenever I visit a site on a subject I'm interested in, I click the ads if something interests me. Isn't that the whole idea? It's not about hiding the ads and trick people to click them.
exactly. I will admit though, I used to have serious ad blindness. Never saw them. Now that I am an AdSense publisher, they stick out to me, and I learn alot about placement etc. Plus, now that I notice them so much, I also notice the ads they contain. Some times, if the ad intrigues me, and I see something I want to know more about, I will click the ad. I would never click on an ad just to help out a webmaster - that is fraud. But I will click if I see something I like. Overall, being in the Adsense program has more than tripled the amount of ads I click.
I click image/banner ads maybe once every year or two, but I click somebody's Google ad a couple times a month, especially if I'm looking to buy something. Google's ads are a way to get to what you're looking for when you're shopping online. They'll never be killed by ad blindness, though I could see earnings decreasing eventually.
Well, yes, it matters quite a bit, actually. The big "Adsense tip" you'll ever get anywhere, including from the big G itself, is to "blend" in your ads i.e. make it look like the content/navigation of your site. So if you have no idea what Adsense ads are, and you go to a site that has brilliantly blended in their ads, of course you'll go around clicking on links, because, let's face it, we all do that. As a result, there is a higher rate of clicking by people who doesn't know about Adsense, then there is, say, by yourself or I, as we can easily pick out an Adsense ad, and so don't click them by accident. But for now, and the immediate future, we needn't worry. Not nearly enough people know about Adsense to have an impact on earnings, I think. Ten years from now? Possibly...
I recently blended my ads in at http://attical.com and http://juco.us. There still new sites. A couple months old but after I blended adsense in I get a few clicks a day.
not too bad, codyturk, but the blending in can still be improved i think. and the only thing you can do now is to add content consistently. good luck
Removing border of Adsense, Replacing others ads with link ads and the most is important is when I became user of web Revenue optimizer. I can't forget hard days before I used WRO.
I just want you to know I really enjoy your posts Jack Burton Thank You for taking the time to share with us and help me to understand a little better And Moe Thank you very very much for also taking the time to show me this .. I have 1500 adsense sights ands I aint making squat of what I should be... I will offer you to 10% of the earnings of the 1500 sites for a good period of time if you can help us to make the changes needed to begin getting better ctr The Crow
Are you still seeing the quadrupling of earnings - it seems like the first example flows so much nicer than the later one, since the 336x280 breaks it up.
If I was him, I would have flowed the content around the 336. IE, float:left the ads, whith the content wrapping it.
One of my best moves was placing ad links at the top on my home page... but I removed it to avoid loss of page views per visitor.
