I was wondering what the first search engine was that people could actually use. I found this information on Wikipedia but it didn't say which web address the search engine was on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wide_Web_Wanderer
Those were early search engines not necessarily bad for their time. What I would like to see is what people dislike today?
thanks for sharing this info... i wonder what are the status (as of today) of the earlier SE built before google...
What's weird is that AliWeb.com was one of the first search engines yet they have an Alexa ranking that is over a million! Their PR is pretty high though but that shows you that PR doesn't really mean a whole lot.
ok instead of just giving a ' thanks for sharing ' build up my post count post i have something real to say. How to I submit my url to it? I know this will probably give some juice.
In case you were wondering which one is the best and the most used...Well I think you already know the answer...
Actually, they show up #1 for "Oldest Search Engine". However, you would think with the age of their website and their extremely high PR, they would rank highly for the keyword "Search Engine".
might look into that aliweb one. It seems to have some other interesting options then google. Anyone know how many users? And do they ever publish top keywords used or something like that?
