As it says in the titel: What type of site earns you most? e.g. a flash games site, forum, or something else?
automated sites like myspace resource websites and arcades. i also have subscription based website that has been bringing me stable income for nearly 2 years.
Prove me wrong... I don't believe that. Porn traffic = crap, unless you are running a big AVS site. As for myself, gaming site... the cpc value from adsense may be low, but it is the easiest type of site to get traffic from search engine.
yep, i don't think porn sites are a good alternative either...wanted to make one a while ago and it's pretty trycky. you can't use adsense...and this means you have to become affiliate to some other porn sites. And read a lot of forums on this subject, that most of them are cheaters and stuff...it's messy. Although it would be fun
I get decent returns from my http://www.emailfriends.com website. I have articles contained in the site with really cool "blended" advertising. All I do is post an article a week. What is funny is that I put less effort in this one, but it still provides. As you can see i used the standard Wordpress blog template...nothing fancy.
good topic but I don't think that some of people who really have good income will tell that...if tell you are then competitors
Personally for me, it's got to be forums. I earning about $50~ a month from my less than 10k post forum.
From what I hear around the web stuff like porn and gambling seems to be most lucrative, but that's just what I hear. The thing is that not everyone wants to do business in those areas and not everyone wants to even associate with those things. We may be in a less lucrative business, but that's better than being in something just for the sake of money itself. I am probably in one of the worst businesses with one of my sites; political and social activism applied to the realm of culture and software (Free Culture, Free Software). Oh and I actually believe in that stuff and adjust my business practices to match. The result is having to constantly balance between my principles and the need to earn money, or at least at this point financially self-sustain the site. However, potential exists and I have already managed to get payed a few times. My other site that I've just recently started focusing alot on is in the area that is probably more lucrative - Free Software, GNU/Linux, BSD, OpenSolaris tech support. You've probably all heard of GNU/Linux and its growing popularity. Well as it continues to grow, the market I am positioning my site in will grow too. So I think there's a great potential there. So, I'm not in the most lucrative areas of business, but I love them and I am constantly hoping that it will one day turn into something big, beautiful and of course, fully financially sustainable. Ah.. sorry for the rant.
Any niche site , that which the people have never seen before and that which would interest them ... Also it doesnt really depend on the site, it all depends on how you market it and how you adsense or other ads are optimised! Correct me if am wrong... Abhishek
The site that earns me the most is an flash games arcade site, although it doesn't make me a lot of money (I've never really had the time to promote my sites or work on them until now).
Full Ecommerce sites make the most for me. I can't tell you the markets I'm selling in though or I'd have to kill you.
Content is king more now than ever....dynamic contextual advertising is, and in my opinion will continue to be, the best way to go. Good affiliate sites still make money but they do not generate truly passive income. Contextual stuff like adsense can do very well in large forums as well depending on the topical nature of the forums. In short I would maintain any growing forums or affiliate sites but with anything new I would stick locating content vacuums and filling the void with great content-rich advertising laden with your contextual stuff like AdSense.
