Hi, im shopping for computer parts, the hard drive im buying states that it comes with no cables, screws or software, im looking at SATA cables, what type of SATA cable do i need? I will just be installing the one hard drive in the new pc that im building soon.

The one that im looking at says that it avoids daisy chaining, that means a cable per hard drive, dvd writer etc?

Since you're going to be using a SATA 2 motherboard (from your other thread), you can buy either a SATA 2 or SATA 3 cable, you'll still be limited to SATA 2 speeds.
The only thing to watch out for is whether you'd be better off with 90 degree plugs or not - all depends on your case and how much space you have.

If you ARE buying a new mobo, it will probably come with at least one SATA cable.

Thanks for your reply in the other thread Kerosene, possible now that il go for a SATA 3 after what you said, i was looking at those two type of cables and how they have 90 degree ones.

Good to hear that the motherboard will probably come with at least one, im guessing it would be the flat type so i think if i order a spare cable and choose a 90 degree one i can see what is most suited to the case.

Buy a cable that supports the hd Sata specification.

If the hd in new, it will be sata2 or 3 now, but I never heard of different sata cable specification
