Desktop all the way. Upgradeable. Faster. Cheaper.

I use a cheap laptop ($400 two years ago). It's got a busted screen so I have it hooked up to my 40" lcd. I don't think it's good for my eyes.

    Both.
As Zee wrote, desktop at office and notebook at home.

I guess this would have been better as a Poll question, but IMO desktops beat laptops any day and don't have ANY downsides except for its lack of portability which again can be a major influencing factor.

Laptop. I haven't had a desktop for over 5 years now. I prefer laptops for its mobility, even in my bedroom.

However, I wish to have a laptop with 17" screen, but weight under 2 pounds. Perhaps I will own one in 10 years. :D

    Desktop

    i7 860
    8GB DDR3
    2x 32GB OCZ Vortex in raid-0
    GTX 260

It's pretty nice with the SSD in there, boots up win7 in like 6 seconds

Laptop since I bought it - desktop is now working as a home server so not really using it for day-to-day tasks anymore.
