I am looking for thoughts on what a reasonable monthy traffic increase % would be - employing pretty basic on-site and off site optimization techniques (no paid ads). My boss would like to establish a monthly traffic goal for the site (and my pay would be based on reaching these goals). We currently stand at around 25,000 visitors per month, the plan calls for us to hit 120,000 by end of year (increasing by abt 30% per month). I am not sure these numbers are reasonable, any thoughts? When the site first launched in Jan. 2006 - we increased by anywhere from 5-25% and in Jan 2007, we did experience a 36% jump in one month. My boss assumes that because I have 2 years of experience under my belt that I should be able to hit higher % increases employing the same techniques. FYI: our website is a wedding planning website - and we are targeting keywords like wedding planning, wedding dresses, wedding flowers etc. - which all get considerable search volume. We used to get about 100,000 visitors per month, but traffic fell substantially when we relaunched the site in Jan. 08 (we renamed urls - but employed 301 redirects...). I am not sure if it's reasonable to get the traffic back to where we were before the relaunch by year's end. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
30% increase sounds reasonable to me. I have seen website who did have growth like that. Also it depends on the age of site. New sites grows faster (if marketed) compared to old sites.
