    I use two sources

    1 Market Samuri - Keyword research
    http://www.marketsamurai.com/
    2 DP and all other forums
    Building backlinks is the most important thing you will ever do. Start posting on other forums and blogs and exchange links with other related websites.

    you should try this 3w.tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ Its completely free and very detailed.

    Also you should try compete.com to look at a site's traffic, it's much better than Alexa... Alexa is good only for looking at what site links to what site
