What would be the next best thing for contextual PPC text ads advertising if I don't want to use adsense? Something I can put on any site (not adult) where I would not want to use adsense.

If you are from the US then YPN would be the next solution for you. Another solution if you are not from the US but have some good US traffic is CPA affiliate networks.

Many DP users have switched to widgetbucks... I am not sure how well they will pay however the overall response is positive for widgetbucks... The only thing I pray is that they should pay!
I like adbrite, i think they are a good alternative to adsense. They also have better customer service which adsense has no customer/client services. A company that doesnt have a person you can call isnt a company i really wanna use (but i have to admit i do use adsense on a few sites) I just think if more people use adbrite it will be better than adsense.....just my opinion.
