What to take care about when building my website in terms of SEO.

I have read some tips about SEO and re-build my website according to that and I thought my website was perfect but I rank poorly in searches related to my keywords and my pagerank is 0. Actually my website is about 6 1/2 months old but I knew nothing about SEO at that time so the poor performance is understandable. Now 3 weeks have passed since I re-build it according to the SEO tips given to me but the pagerank is still poor and also the position in search results.

The SEO tips given to me were related to the ALT/Description attributes for my images. The title, description and keywords meta tags. Surround my images with keyword rich text. Get backlinks.

I did all that but the lack of improvement make me reach the conclusion that I did something wrong or forgot to do something. Can somebody answer the following questions to help me determine what I did wrong? 1) what's better to include in the ALT/Description attribute, a 2/3 word keyword or a whole sentence? Which one of them is the most valuable to the search engines, the ALT attribute or the description attribute? 2) How many times should a keyword appear on my body text so the search engines consider it has a good density. 3) I made an arrangement with somebody to link to 14 of his sites and he will give me 50 links to mine, the links were all added the same day, does Google penalize that practice? because I see only 14 in Google analytics. What do you think is the reason why Google recognizes just 14 of the links to my site?

How much time does it tipically take to get a pagerank number 1 and have a good position in search engines?

What other tips do you people can give me besides of the ones mentioned before? Can somebody take a look to my site and give me some tips to improve it from a SEO perspective? I need to mention that the site is adult oriented to prevent surprises. I really hope that somebody can help me with this. Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

Thanks for the quick answer, my website's url is: http://www.247stripperclub.com Remember that it's adult oriented and people who get offended by that kind of material should not visit it. I hope that this doesn't violate the rules.

    Thanks everybody for your answers.

HomeComputerGames: why do you think that Google webmasters tools recognize only 20 links to my site?

Google does that, they are often way behind in reporting and sometimes never report all your links. Yahoo is best to check this.

Do you think that the late reports will affect my pagerank and/or position in searches? Also I would like your opinion about the ALT/Description attribute of my images.

Adult related sites are highly competitive. You might need a lot of related backlinks pointing to you.

You should really start to work on link building with proper anchor keyword and dofollow link. Remember, only dofollow backlink will help you increase pagerank and serp ranking in google.

There are many adult dofollow blogs that you can get dofollow backlink through commenting.

You can also try to link exchange with other adult sites that is relevant to your site.

atniz: related to my niche or any adult website will do? How many backlinks do you think it should take to reach pagerank #1? What do you think a good anchor text should be, the keywords I'm aiming to in the page? Thanks in advance.

I am also a noober and been toying at it for sometime now

but check this from the journal I had prepared made from following the discussions on SEO here (just ignored to bookmark the thread links)!

For increase in one number of PR by the next PR update ....
backlinks from pr1 websites then you would require 444 backlinks
backlinks from pr2 websites then you would require 81 backlinks
backlinks from pr3 websites then you would require 15 backlinks
backlinks from pr4 websites then you would require 3 backlinks

    Hope this helps

Live2Write: I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying that I need 444 backlinks from pr1 websites to reach the next pagerank? Or 81 backlinks from pr2 websites to reach the next pagerank? And so on? What about the backlinks from websites with 0 pagerank? How many of those do I need to reach the next pagerank? What about backlinks from pr5 websites? Do I need just one of those to reach the next pagerank? If this is true I have less than 10% of the backlinks required to reach the next pagerank which is #1. That sucks big time.

You get that right...but you could just write 2 articles with 2 backlinks for each from a site like ezinearticles.com (should be PR5 or PR6)to be upped by 1 page rank! Sounds exciting, but I guess I am not misleading you too! :-/

The Google LINK: operator shows only a SAMPLE of your inbound links, usually a small sample. The Google WMT screens that show inbound links ALSO show a sample. It's generally a larger sample than you can get via the LINK: operator, but still a sample none the less.
