Hello Everyone!!! When I place back links on others' websites, following are the things which i closely observe in order to get maximum benefit. Relevancy Main keyword in title and url Anchor Text Page rank Links must be no greater than 20 on that page. That particular page is in Google, yahoo and MSN database. Whether they have used rel="nofollow" or not. Links are simple html link or have used some kind of Javascript Alexa Rank robots.txt What seo-experts here at digital point are looking for please let me know. If something is missing please point it out. I shall be very thankful.
Links no greater than 20? I think most pages have well more than that. Isn't Google's rule something like 200 or 100?
Yes, Google will have no problem handling hundreth of links, but I think the less links there is, the better
Right, makes sense. I'd just raise it from 20 to 40/50 maybe... I honestly haven't done much hardcore SEO though (haven't needed to as much, focusing on content/structure works very well alone). I would also remove the Alexa ranking from your list - it's not all that accurate as far as I know. I'd ask for proof of traffic instead, if you want to know (Analytics screen shots, etc).
You are right about alexa rank. http://www.expert-seo.net/Alexa-Rankings-and-the-Effect-on-Your-Website-Traffic.html
Alexa is becoming non reliable. The not more then 20 links on particluar page was a nice point though.
If you are focusing on picking up PR, the more links a page has, the more the PR is diluted. 20 is a good rule for a maximum. You are probably not going to pick up much PR from a page that has 100 links. Google's guidelines advise no more than 100 links to a page. Take it for what it is worth.
