WHAT TO learn in video making in order to make money ?

    Hello everyone,

As in my previous thread, i asked for some methods to make money.

But I never thought about video making, it's one of very few computer things that are actually fun and it's nice to learn them.

I got adobe after effects, sony vegas 9 pro and photoshop cs 5 but i never used them much.

I mostly used photoshop and made signatures / avatars for friends or members of few forums sites.

Now i think i should try to learn video editing and make money with that, advertisment, video making/editing services, whatever.

The problem is that i actually don't really know what should i start learning.

Is this animations, making stuff in photoshop and put it into sony vegas and make a video about it or what ?

I've been looking for some ebooks but most of them teach you about making cool text or something related.

Also, there are really many books about making movies, i don't want to make movies, capture stuff with camera that i don't even have, i want everything done on PC.

Anyone could give me some advices, ebooks that could be good for me ?

    Greetings

Animations are Ae + Fl + Pr (Vegas in your case) . Start by making compilations to get the hang of it then post them on YouTube and see the reactions .
Then start making short animations for fun . Then upgrade to marketing and viral videos .

You could start using windows movie maker and later on adobe after effects for making youtube videos. You could also get freemake video converter to convert between various formats.

I am an amateur Motion graphic designer. I have been making videos for less than 4 months now. I started when I joined a video competition; however, the contest turned out to be a scam. I never started at basic(which is not a good thing and now I am working on it) I made my first video by watching Andrew Kramer Tutorials which can be found at videocopilot.net. Now I am on the market for 2 Months and I had been able to earn not-so-bad since I started.

I mainly use Adobe after effects and Premiere Pro(A software similar to Vegas) and Now I am studying Cinema 4D which makes a great combination.

    So suggestions are:

Start from the basic especially after effects. There are tons of tutorials on the web.
As I said my first video is a promotional video. http://youtu.be/ynLf_dKd1E4
You might want to try a promotional video or anything similar like that because it's the most common video that clients are looking for. Promotional Videos.
Since you are familiar with Photoshop that's a great asset I believe and also Illustrator.

Hey Alotofit, thanks for inspiring post, i really appreciate it !

I've watched few of Andrew Kremer's tutorials too and yeah i think they're great for beginners, i'll soon start putting it into action and try to make my own videos.

About earnings, what do you mean with not-so-bad ?

Also that's a pretty nice promotional video as it's your first one.

I'll think about Illustrator too but first will learn AE.

You may try this Video Editor, it's a nice video editing software that can help you edit, join, split, trim, crop, convert and cut video, my friends recommend it to me, it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, it embeds many special effects. I had made a video with it and the video got award, that's pretty cool. Here is the free download link

Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question.

If you wish, you could make a slideshow video out of your photos and some royalty free music then you can insert your ads.
