What to do?

I was selling a website. And this is what happened:

Someone ended the auction with $40.

When he did, I sent him a PM. Because I hadn't received a reply after 24h, I sent a pm to the second highest bidder, who had made a bid of $30.

Right after I sent that guy the pm, the one who bid $40 answered my pm.

After he did, I immediately sent a pm to the other guy (who was off line at the time of both PMs), telling him I was sorry, but that the winner had been the other guy.

    I went to sleep.

I woke up this morning, finding that the one who had bid $30 had sent the payment (which I haven't accepted yet), and the information (after my "sorry" pm). Now, this expects delivery of the website.

Who should I give the site to? This is pretty confusing.

On the other hand, I have other people offering $50+ for it.

Who do you think should keep the site? Please help.

    Thanks!

    Dear 'JMN' :)

that is not a critical issue, just come back to your auction rules on that topic. have you mentioned how long the winner has time to reply back? if you did, simply judge according to that rule. if you didn't, if i was in your shoes, i would deliver website to first high bidder(who had bidden for $40). forget about $50 bidder ;)

    Good luck!

OK, thanks. No, I didn't mention how much time they had to answer. I'll think about your advice. Thanks.

    Anyone else has an opinion?

    Sorry to hear that
If i'm in your shoes,i will sell the website to the $50 buyer
You can give excuse such as you don't accept CC payment to the $30 sender

You have to obey the rules of your auction.

If the $40 dollar guy still wants that website, then he has the right to it since he won the auction.

However if he doesn't than imho I would accept the $50 dollar offer

(Unless you had a rule in the auction that if the winner pull out the next highest bidder got it).
