I've got nothing but dead sites that are impossible to market, what do i do with them apart from setting the "You dont have permission to access / in this server" page?

Use them to promote your other sites. If absolutely nothing else, a redirect to something you need a tiny PR boost to might help

Yeah sure, who would want to buy such things...they would have more traffic buying a new domain...
Impossible to market yes...its very competitive niches...actually all niches are impossible to market nowadays unless your site is about life in jupiter's soup...

Get yourself a decent hosting package with multiple domain function so that you don't have to fret about each dead site. Just leave the content on and wait for the domain to mature.

And yeah, I almost agree that there are no "impossible to market" sites... if only Jokes & Humour maybe.

You can always give them away to someone for free. That person might have a use for them.
Or, you can use them to exchange links and get some PR for other sites that you may have.

Use them for backlinking, if you wish to sell the sites, I am interested if the price is good.

If they have trickles of traffic and some backlinks id park them.

Put adsense for domains on them.

Clades - why not try selling them (there's a thriving "Sell Websites" section on here) ... even if you only got a few bucks, its better than just letting them sit around. SOMEBODY out there will buy them.
You seem a bit despondent [ "Yeah sure, who would want to buy such things...they would have more traffic buying a new domain... Impossible to market yes...its very competitive niches...actually all niches are impossible to market nowadays unless your site is about life in jupiter's soup..." ] - I hope that's just a passing phase.
By the way - when you get your site on life in Jupiter's soup up and running, let us all know!
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

What do you do with used food containers? What is the point in keeping them if you have to pay to keep them. If they are decent sell the, if they are junk let them expire. If you have some traffic park them and run ads.

I understand your concerns of what to do with "dead sites". It happens when you try to diversify your portfolio and some of them just don't make the cut. I have found that sometimes your best bet is to try and at least brake even on your under performing site that you want to get rid of. e.g. cost of domain, script, advertising, etc... It doesn't hurt to try and put it up for auction here on DP for free. If your reserve is not met you don't have to sell ;)
