So I have built this, uh, blog directory / blog aggregator, app but I am not sure exactly where to go with it. http://www.out-fox-the.net/rss/ Essentially it is an aggregator - that is it collects rss feeds from the sites that I have in its database. It works on a category/subcategory breakdown, and displays the latest updates for each of the sources for the selected cat/sub-cat. It is all quite modular with carefully commented/organized code, so making changes is easy. The interface will be easily theme-able (when I get to that). I know it looks ugly - not worried about that at the moment. But I would like some suggestions about where to take it. For instance I can't even think of a name for it! Any guidance welcome.
I agree with sisaiko. Some graphics will make it much better. Also, more description on your first page.
On top of adding images, you might need to do some clustering to group some of the relevant topics into one group. That will look more organized.
Thanks for the comments everyone. As I said I am not worried about the look of it right now, it is just for testing purposes. It will be different when it is ready to go functionaly. Later I will add user theme control as well. This is interesting. Could you give me an example?
Hi, There are countless blog directory around in the Internet. This is what I saw just a few minutes ago, http://www.blogalore.com You may take it as an example and start modifying your site from there. Good luck.
Thanks, pilot but I don't think that blogalore is a prime example of a (general) blog directory since I focus on certain topics. There are some Big keywords missing. Alext, you might want to take a look at technoratis taglist http://technorati.com/tags/ to find categorys where you can build your aggregator service around...
