So I have a site that was receiving 20-70 visitors per day. Since purchasing it about a month ago, I have been adding content every few days. Two days ago, I started receiving 1k+ visitors per day .... all of which were coming to an article submitted to stumbleupon. Those hits are short in length and are usually just one page and exit. My question: what is the best way to try and keep some of that traffic since its all from one source? Thanks, -JRW
I would like to know the answer to this also. One of the main reasons why I haven't started using stumbleupon is because of these stories. Stumbleupon visitors aren't "targeted" visitors. They are fed random websites to visit, making the traffic not even worthwhile in my eyes.
Stumbleupon visitors leave really fast unless you've got a crazy article they like reading or images they browse through. You generally can't keep them, they just stumble over to the next page.
I would say they are just random Tyler. Most users subscribe to specific categories, and if you carefully list your articles in the right ones ~ you can get some targeted traffic and hopefully some conversions (Whatever your goal might be; RSS Subscribers, Affrliate Sales, Clicks etc.) @OP - We must understand that Stumble Visitors are really impatient.. and very jumpy on the button - so you have even less than the normal "10 second rule". Having quality content is the best way to keep the visitor on your site for long. Once they read a quality article, they will want more - so make sure there's link to "similar content", a clear button back to your homepage, a big button to subscribe - and also a quick short bio about the author within the same page helps Hope that gives you a better insight on how to retain stumble traffic ~ but the best thing about them is - if you can get a stumbler to stumble your post, and get a few of them to do so; you can get some good solid traffic from it. Sure, the bounce rate will be high on this kinda traffic when compared to organic; but its an easy method and can be converted to quality traffic with just a few simple tricks
Have you tried posting related content? Maybe there's a particular subject or style to the article that was Stumbled your readers really enjoy. Try to focus on the same topic in a series of articles, or tell similar stories in your blog posts.
Agreed, Stumble traffic is notorious for it's low conversion rates.. It makes me wonder why some people go after it..
What good would it do me to look at the traffic as a useless bump? Even if I could convert on 1% of 10k I'd be in good shape. Has anyone successfuly taken a dig or stumbleupon traffic spike and used it in a productive way? If so, what did you find worked best? Thanks, -JRW
From SU u get Unique Visitors which are worthless, one of my blog for last 7 days getting Minimum 2k UVs but conversion rate is very very less. I didn't like the traffic from Su
stumble upon traffic is eal hard to handle, most of the users are there just to check out what others recommened, and then leave for another site.
Well wait a minute. They have come to your site so they are at least a little interested in the article you submitted. I suggest putting up a couple of small images related to the topic and some sort of catchy title. Maybe if you tell us what the article is about, might be able to help you make things a bit better. Seems to be a lot of generalizations going on "SU visitors are worthless" etc I don't believe that, there's always a way to turn things around.
I believe most of the SU visitors are tech savvy people so you might want to convert them with some tech. products.
Traffic from stumble upon has to be captured. You need to get their attention. Most of this traffic is basically people who are bored, if you provide something interesting to them, they might return again.
Dont really know how to answer that. I guess it depends on the topic of your web site. For my web site, traffic from SU hasn't converted at all.
