What to do with my Nintendo DS?

So a friend of mine gave me a DS. I don't know what to do with it. I dont like playing the game Nintendog.

I am interested in handheld games such as final fantasy. But I would never pay for it.

What are some things I can do with my ds?

I was thinking of trading it for an Xbox since its around the same value but I have been without luck.

I was also thinking about modding it by buying a blank flash card (do you guys have any suggestions on where to buy these?)

    I need your inputs, thanks.

Why not just sell it on ebay and then use the money to buy and xbox. Or even invest the money. Theres not point in keeping something when the value depreciates as time goes on. Gd.Luck

I doubt I can sell a nintendo ds for a good value in ebay. But I guess its worth the try.

    Any other options?

you could advertise locally, you would probably get more money then ebay because the stuff there is cheap compared to other places.

If your friend gave it to you just chuck it on ebay, you're gonna be up money wise anyway. I have a PSP and actually think a DS looks more fun despite avoiding buying one since they came out.

Or you could just sell the DS and buy a GP2X :D It's open source and runs every emulator under the sun (SNES, SEGA, Neo-Geo etc) without having to hack anything.

    Whats GP2X again? More details?

I'm planning to hack the DS but yeah if you have any useful links to that let me know.

Any tips on advertising it locally?

For advertising locally you could try talking to some Gaming/Cyber/LAN Cafe people and put up advertisements on their notice boards?

If you have a website or other business give it away as a prize to someone who signed up for newsletter, or registered on your site, etc. It should get good traffic and visibility due to the shortage.

It seems like my best option (other than trading / selling my DS ) is to probably buy a blank catridge for it and get emulations online?

Yes buying a blank cartridge then downloading the games online will save you a lot of money than buying each individually.

Do you have any more information on this? I've heard people do it however I don't know the exact necessary steps to do so. So you can just buy any blank cartrige download the game and bam you can play emulated DS and Gameboy advanced games? or do you have to do something else?
