What to do with multiple domain names

I have several exact match and keyword rich domains. I'm currently 301 redirecting all these through my registrar to our main site. I was thinking I'd create micro sites with good, original content and link back to our main site with anchor text within the context of the sites.

My question is whether this is a good strategy.

If yes, then what is the best way to move forward so I don't do anything that the engines would consider spam?
If no, then any suggestions on what I can do with these domains to maximize our targeted traffic potential?

As long as you can provide relevant contents on your new micro sites, it is good to get a backlink from there. It is not wise to exchange link. Try to point one way link only. And, it is not a good idea to link from a site that is not relevant to your main site.

Are you going to use the some hosting server as your main site for all this micro sites? Same servers can be from same IP and the value from same IP will not be as heavy as unique IP backlinks.

All the microsites are exact match domains for relevant keyword terms for our product. We'll develop the content to be relevant and helpful to the user. I won't interlink the individual micro sites. One way link to the main site and possibly some additional outbound links to reference facts if used within the page.

In terms of hosting, I'm considering one of the following options:

    (a) Host each domain using separate c-classes. I've read c-class hosting is better for link juice by keeping sites *separate* but risks exposing an effort to spam and deep penalties.

    (b) Host on same server and add "nofollow" to the links. Concerned this will lead Google to interpret the one way links as "doorway" pages and penalize the exact match domains.

    Any advice?
