One of my sites has got fairly popular the last few days thanks mainly to stumbleupon although my natural search has been improving day on day. Anyway, it wasn't a serious money making effort and I just threw up some Google Ads but obviously nobody clicks on them. Traffic has gone, 31, 30, 29, 503, 284, 8721 [April to date] (7800 SU traffic) over the last six months from when it started and I was wondering what to do with my traffic to help pay for the bandwidth? Any suggestions?
if you have interesting content, then adsense converts your increasing traffic into interesting $ that cover far more than bandwidth but also own server and a decent life and still leaves lots to share but for now just enjoy the traffic it traffic goes into hundred thousands per month then latest you need to act traffic should never pay for bandwidth but for life and all its expenses - adsense does that for you IF done properly
You won't have much luck with SU traffic for making money. It's more about building site awareness and quick spikes in traffic than anything else.
Hopefully they'll come back. The worst part about all of this I don't have internet at home for the next three weeks! So it'll be very hard to keep the content updated.
Well for sure take advantage of the traffic. Adsense, Yahoo ads, theres a tone of them out there. When you have good traffic, I say, don't pass up the opportunity.
I can't get traffic from SU but I submit my articles to submission sites and that's where my traffic comes from
Thanks for the information all & Egg noodles, real good Idea This is a great Forum with lots of brilliant ideas and suggestions. Karl
Monetize, monetize and keep monetizing the traffic... However, SU and many other social sites provide "LOW QUALITY" traffic! I find youtube, facebook nd myspace traffic to be best converting for me..
I would say monetizing SU traffic will not be a wise move. In fact, TS should think about how to retain the traffic. SU traffic comes because of your contents, if they see something good, thumbs up and move on. They will prefer their toolbar rather than your ads if they want to click in order to leave. TS should really come up with some contents when the traffic keep coming in. Also, you can try to feature some of your best work by the sidebar to impress SU users.
I would say affiliate programs would be best. But first, maybe try keeping your audience in your website for a longer period of time (e.g. better design, a video on the front page, eye-catching words, etc). What is the bounce rate of your site?
Go for affiliate programs related to your niche. Just Google "your niche + affiliate programs" and you will get some suggestions. A simple way is to use ClickBank
