    Hi All,
I was hoping someone could tell me what I do when I move a domain from one server to the other?

For example, if I am getting on average 40-50 visitors a day, but it may take me a couple of days to move my web site over (including propogation), so how do I set it up, say for example, how do I set up a page saying 'I'm moving host - please come back in two days' etc?

    Cheers
    Dean

Well, if you are not hosting any dynamic database, you can keep both locations active throughout the propagation period and your customers would not feel a thing.

I find that nowadays propagation is a lot faster and sometimes the move over is just a mere few minutes to a few hours.

Create a page saying 'I'm moving host - please come back in two days' and redirect your domain to that page would be okay.

I would go the way eddy2099 told you.

And remove the old version once you're sure the propagation is over and customers and bots found the new one.

If you've got database modified by users, it's a bit trickyer cause you'll have to "synchronize" them
