What to do with AdSense? Recommended on a shopping website?

    Hello,

One of my clients for whom I am developing a complete online shopping website had asked me whether or not I would recommend placing AdSense on the website.

Their idea is to place text ads only among product pages and other well-visited pages within the website.

The website is about 6-7 years old and has a great pool of traffic, with PR6, going to PR7.

Any recommendations that I may pass on?

    Thank you,

    AK

I do not recommend adsense on shopping website , as it will divert your traffic for few cents clicks.

Also to add, a great example of mass ads being provided on a shopping website would be www.amazon.com

I wouldn't recommend it. The ads open in your window so you could make $.05 but lose a potential customer

in my opinion, adsense has become an standart for the web sites which is being used to show related links with your content.

because of this, i suggest every web site to use adsense :)

You do not think that it may intervene with the company image or maybe portray it as not being able to cover costs therefore use the option of utilizing ads on the website to add income.

The ebst thing to do is place the ads in a an are that does not catch the eye immediately. This way if people don't find what they are searching for in your store they will go elsewhere via adsense (hopefully).

If it opened in a new window I think could consider it, but unfortunately it takes your client away from your site.

They have a shopping site, focus on selling products. Pointing possible buyers to alternatives and competitors through Adsense doesn't seem right to me.

Try to convert more traffic into sales by optimizing those product and well visited pages. If done good they should make loads more with selling products than with Adsense on the site. I know I do.

My personal rule of thumb is to not utilize AdSense on pages where I'm trying to sell a product.

Sometimes, the commission off one sale makes more than AdSense does on that particular page in a day.

It seems fairly obvious that it wouldn't be smart to put ads for the competition on your website, just like McDonalds doesn't put Burger King signs on the drive through menu...
