I have a domain i no longer use...its displaying the "You don't have permission to access / on this server." message.
If i drop it my domain registrar will park it and i cannot allow that

So what else can i do with it?

If you have access to the conrol panel and the nameserver settings, park it on top of a domain you are using and 301 redirect it to the domain on which it is parked. For better understanding read this article.

If you no longer use it then you could sell it or let it expire. Just delete it from your control panel if you don't want it to be there.

I'll advice you to sell it rather than keep it expire. It might have some value.

Change the dns setting to any server and then develop some site that need less maintenance.

    You could:

    1. Choose a parking company (doesn't have to be your host of course)
    2. 301 redirect the domain to another similar domain that you have
    3. Hold the domain and hope to resell it in the future (if you think that the domain name will appreciate in value).

Get some articles done, Set up wordpress with a nice theme.
and launch it! At least after few monts you can sell it, or even can develop further.

yes..developing it would give you the best results..the second option is parking it and putting it up for auction..
