Hello All, I am new to SEO and web development and have recently sold an off line company for a tidy profit and would like to invest a portion of it online. If you had $100k to invest online (without selling something tangible) what would you do with it. Feel free to pitch me some ideas and your services. I am shopping for both. Best, David CT
Some smart arse is going to say this, so let me be the first (second, now!) ===> give it to me! With $100k, I'd suggest that you build your own product; your own brand and market the hell out of it. If it is a decent product, you will definitely make more than what you put in
I would prefer not to sell, ship and support a tangible product. Now, something digital or intangible, maybe. My background is 14 years in the wireless/wireless data arena and I have a strong passion and massive knowledge of the vintage and exotic car markets as well. David
You could go the route of building your own online empire from scratch, but with that kind of money I would look around and see if you can find a few startups that are already showing promising returns. With a few clever investments and good deals, you can be setting yourself up to earn thousands of dollars monthly, potentially.
You could always do virtual products - go into marketing/online courses or of course everyone's favourite, the eBook industry...
If you new be carefull.. buy some smaller project get your feet wet.. get someone that knows what they are doing and you trust.. The internet is like the wild west .
Over the past few years I have purchased some domains to go along with my interest and talents: www.motorshark.com Auto reviews, financing tips and tricks, lease deals, etc.. www.smackwear.com VERY (borderline offensive) Humorous T-Shirts, caps, etc.. www.youarealreadyrich.com A twist on the get rich overnight ebook by being happy with what you already have. Once I got what I personally wanted, I just wanted something else and so on and so forth. True "richness" has nothing to do with what's in your bank account and I was going to express my thoughts in this book. David
With $100K I would definately look into making your own product. From the info I have been getting from surfing many webmaster forums, the really successful people are the ones with their own products. If you don't want to do that . . . as said above invest in a start up
Invest in a good web site already online and for sale - that way you only spend on marketing and improving the business idea, but keep half of your money always as a backup if your adventure is not very successful
Buy sites earning $100+ a month for 1k Get a few to start off and if they are making you good money get more. Try to find sites that you can set and forget.
What ever you do, just be careful! I have been doing this for 1.5 years now and the best advice I can give is to try many different ideas on a small scale first until you are confident you know what you are doing. I am sure many newbies are ripped off at least a few times until they learn, myself included (including by buying on DPoint). So just dont put the $100k into the first thing you come across! Reading alot on this forum is certainly a great start. Dave
