If I had 50k I would probably invest in stocks and eventually start looking into real estate. Then again you're posting in a Online Marketing forum =), that's why most of the info you're getting is internet marketing based. Choose a business that you enjoy, research for at least 6 months then SLOWLY start building your company. Be very careful, take minimum risks until you start seeing money come in (or the potential). Good luck!!
get a big ass round bottom flask and start cooking crystal meth.. u will get ur 50k back in a month kidding.. With 50k budget, I would build a couple of sites and invest half of the money on marketing and promotion.. will keep the rest of the money for rainy days
The very fist thing I would do would be to pay your house off. If your renting, then buy a house and pay cash for it. Forget investing the money, forget buying ANYTHING besides a house.

Watch all of the Dragons Den and Shark Tank on You Tube and then start looking into business' that you want to work on. They are the best of the best people in business and Remember work ON a business not IN a business.
You shouldn't start a business without having large amounts of experience in its niche first. I've been working in my niche for almost 5 years now and I'm still learning lots of new stuff every day. Build a company out of something you know. You seem to know a thing or two about website rankings, so maybe work off that? You have a lot of money to utilize here. However, your investments could easily make or break your life, so it's important to make the right ones. Here's what I suggest you do: -Keep a journal of ideas for businesses. No matter how silly, write it down. -Remember, you want to plan out a business that will be successful in 50 years, not 5 months. -Speak to professionals in your target niche about that business. You won't get anywhere not knowing anything. -Everybody is a shark looking to screw you. Don't trust anybody more than you trust yourself. -Take a 2-4 year course in business at a local community college. Along the way, pick up a couple internships at the type of business you may want to start. I know it sucks to have to spend a long time training, but 95% of businesses fail due to inexperienced owners. You won't make any money overnight. Sorry, that's not the way the world works. Most likely, you won't see large returns on your company for years. That being said, if you want to open up a business it's going to cost a lot more than money. If this amount of work and sacrifice isn't your cup of tea, I'd take up something else.
