I was hired to design a banner for one of my client, I put my best to the banner and deliver it to him within 24 hours (as promised) in the reply he said " send me the psd and payment info" when I sent him all the info.. i got nothing

He never came back to me :(

I PMed him, sent him 2 emails but no reply at all.

What to do in this situation? how to avoid this kind of frauds? any idea?

Retract the payment if possible, make sure you do a lot of research about this individual or company beforehand, make sure to see a portfolio of his work, and try to work out a deal where you pay half, you get the design, and pay the rest (50/50)

Actually I didn't hire him... HE hired me to design a banner for him.

I think I should start taking 50% payment before and 50% when the project is done.

yeah 50/50 or use scriptlance with escrow, and don't waste time, if you think somebodies cut and run, fire one email to say contact me when your about and move onto the next thing, wages always must take priority :)

Depending on how much is the sum of money, if it is huge we normally ask for the help of a collection agency, if it is small, we just write it off.

You can buy a few Big Macs with that :) but I guess just write it off and treat it as a lesson. Maybe next time collect a big down payment.

Yes, I learned a lesson that NEVER trust anyone.

Actually this happened to me 2nd time :(

In the future, I will tell my clients that I will deliver my work WITH watermarks, and it will be removed once the payment is done.

Yes Algert, Me too will do the same :)

Forgive and forget my friend.....treat this as a lesson. Chasing him to the ends of the worlds isn't worth it. It isn't worth the hatred and the time involved.

You can do nothing now, next time dont give out the product until paid. As sample give watermarked images in less resolution than ordered, so you are protected, and buyer can see what he will get.

That a good idea - it's a shame that a few people ruin it for the rest -
