what to do when .org, .net, .com are taken

    Ok i want to create a url around a keyword which im targeting, however the .org, .net, .com are taken. Also other extensions like info, us, etc are taken. Should i add a extra keyword to the end, or a symbol like www.keyword-keyword.com because no one has this domain?

    Or what do you normally do in a situation like this?

    Never go for dashes. You could always create a new name.

    I would take in consideration what the keyword was. Obviously you dont want to reveal what that keyword is, but personally, I couldnt give any advice on choosing a dashed domain or one with additional words without knowing.

    I am curious though why the above poster says "never go for dashes". I have seen many sites experience great rankings with a dashed keyword domain name...

    a symbol like www.keyword-keyword.com is not bad.
    how is your ranking is depend on how you will promote your site :)
