Did you do anything wrong before your rank dropped from 1 to 4? If not, that's because your competitors do better than you.

The same thing happenned to me. The problem I have is that I can't get an answer on why my site violates their TOS. I went through the entire site looking for metatag duplicationes etc.. I have only done white hat SEO and I've been penalized. The always respond with a cookie cutter response.

I've attempted to submit my site again and still no luck. This is not a good reflection on them. Obviosly something is wrong with their algo, and they will eventually feel the effect from lack of quality on their part.

Where did you get this info? It wont help you unbanned websites by submitting your site to Yahoo directory. Yahoo directory and Yahoo Search is not the same.

#1 position? I doubt you know what you're talking about.
are you selling an ebook or something? :D

If i search for www.mydomain.com I only get results like
    mydomain.com/feed
    mydomain.com/page1
    ...

    and NOT only www.mydomain.com

Am I banned? I haven't done anything that would get it banned :(

Yahoo actually read and respond to reinclusion requests.
A few things to remember though.
    1. Admit your site has used illegal techniques. (In my case it was internal linking gone wild...)

    2. Adjut your site accordingly (if you don't know what you have done wrong, I would just make up something - the point is to make them believe you are trying to do the right thing.)

    3. Apologize, and tell them that it will NEVER happen again.
Also point out that your site is unique and valuable for Yahoo search.

I actually got a positive reply from yahoo tech.
They also told my why my site was flagged.
In my case I had to adjust 3000 pages written by hand, but it was worth it.
A few days later my site slowly got indexed, and today 3 months later my site is back and ranking with almost 3000 pages.

    So it is possible.

It's still a mystery to me. Our site is definitely indexed still, and logs even show some traffic coming to us from Yahoo, but we don't rank for a single thing anymore - Not even our company name. Something's not right, but I'm not sure how to fix it. :(
