    I didn't/woudn't get an infraction because I wasn't hijacking a thread.
There was nothing I could have done to stop him from doing what he did.
I made the necessary precautions to minimize the risk for me.
The deal itself was fine, the person doing the selling wasn't.

Now to stop this thread from getting out of hand, lets end the discussion there?

As I pointed out. Make sure to have the cash up front before closing a deal, even if the seller promises to hold it. That's the precaution you missed I personally believe.

I've seen too many sales deals flop (online & offline) exactly how yours did so its a reason that I never buy something unless I can pay for it up front and why I advise other to do the same.

I couldn't agree more that it was wrong of the seller to promise a hold and then to release it. Its an unethical way of doing business and a sure way to destroy business relationships.

I am aware that I shouldn't have attempted to buy without the money. But I thought I would try because I really wanted the site. So I wasn't prepared to let it go without at least trying to get it.
I'm glad you agree with the fact the seller was in the wrong in this case :)

I know that feeling too well and have done it previously.

Unfortunately I don't think much can be done with what happened. All you can do is make people aware in the auction thread (which you've done) and move on. Maybe throwing him a red rep for your troubles.

I would give him red rep, but it deducts from my rep so I'm not going to do that.
Edit: Actually I have changed my mind and issued red rep.

I saw the thread and you were both a little bit wrong; you for attempting to buy something without the funds to pay for it and him for striking a deal with you and reneging on that deal.

Neither one of you should be doing business here until you can do business like gentlemen.

You obviously do not understand my situation. I do have the funds to buy.
Please do not talk about it again as I can't be bothered to explain/argue again especially when I just cleared it up with cormac.

I've seen too many people in the BST threads bidding on items that they don't have money for.
It's simple... if you don't have the money to pay for a bid, don't make the bid!

If you had the money, you should have paid immediately and you would own the website right now. Pretty simple.

    @Crazy_Zap
I only made the bid after he agreed with my situation and that it wasn't a problem for goodness sake.
Believe it or not I have traded before. I know how it works.
I'd love to see your actions if you found a site you really wanted and could get it if the seller doesn't mind your situation. I'd put money on the chances of you at least inquiring to the seller about an arrangement.
    Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

    @champ_rock
I reported the thread but nothing happened.
People on namepros get banned for doing it, why not DP!

    You'd lose your money.

...not that I'd ever see it, of course, because of your "situation". ;)

What I said was constructive. If you can't pay, don't bid!
It's not OK to "pay later".
It's not OK to pay in a different manner that the seller accepts.
It's not OK to pay by moneybookers when the seller accepts paypal only.
It's not OK to pay with goat's milk when the seller accepts USD only.
It's not OK to gladly pay Tuesday for a website today.

If you bid today, have the money, in the form that the seller wants today!

I also said that the seller should have honoured a deal they made with you. They were wrong for that.
People have to know that when they bid on an item, that the item is actually for sale to them.

    Depends on the situation.

I once bid on bunch of urls and then my close friend said do not buy anything that is related to Adult business.

I posted that If the seller force me to buy I would buy or he could sell the same to some one else.

Giving Negative iTrader is not the solution there; he has the option to force me to buy.
    I offered compensation as well.

Basically I like to say it depends on the situation.

Get the word from buyer and if you fell it is an attempt to de-rail your sale you can go harsh. If it is not the case act with dignity.

    Thanks

I think it depends on the reason he/she has backed out - I once backed out of an auction because it was left running for a week (it was meant to close after 48 hrs) and I bought an alternative product in the meantime. I don't think that was unreasonable but to cover myself I made a post to that effect in the thread.

If someone is regularly bidding and pulling out at the last moment for the lamest of reasons (like 'I changed my mind') then the chances are they are just running up their post count.

it has happened to me a few times! the wining bidder has not paid, sometimes he says to wait may be 15-20 days, sometimes don't even replies to pms! remeber i started a thread on this topic!!

the best you can do is, pm the second last bidder, and so on, but then it didnot worked for me, as the other bidders said that they have already bought other stuffs!

anyways, i started another thread, and that's the only option you have!
