What to do to get from 5th to 1st on first page?

Being in SEO i believe in one thing that if you can't be the one (site ranking in 1st position) then follow the one. That means follow it's site structure, it's backlinks, it's keyword placement. Compare them with yours. Fill your pit holes first, then try to get few more backlinks from hardcore niche domains.

 

Keep on increasing your articles count, even if that means slogging day & night. Continue building quality backlinks say 20 everyday. But remember it'll take some time for your site to shoot up in the rankings. Rome wasn't built in a day !

 

Get more backlinks with PR to be on top 3.

 

Is your website updated with On-Page Optimization it is also an important factor.

 

UPDATE 3: So, it has been a while and I continued to build some backlinks to my site and it climbed up to spot #2. It stayed there for a few weeks, then it suddenly disappeared from the search results. I looked for it in the first 10 results pages but it was nowhere. Luckily, it was not deindexed(I was checking site:mysite.com on Google).

So, yesterday I updated the site with a new post and dropped one new backlink to it. Today when I checked again, it is on #2 again.

This means that no rankings will last forever, you will need to regularly update the site and add content, especially if it is a newer site.

Now, I will try to get to #1.

 

Of course if you want to come on op you have to analysis your competitors and then make your strategy accordingly..you will get a high RANK.

 

Let me get this straight, in two month with brand new domain you rank is 5 on first page, and your competitors sites are 12, 8, 5 and 2 years old? Well congratulations then, because you find yourself a hell of a niche!
I'm not going to repeat after everybody by saying:"build links!" (oops, I just did But what I want to say is that if your competition is so weak - just keep doing what you did until now and you will pass by them to be nr 1

 

Find out what it is those guys at position 1 and 2 did, and try and replicate
