What to do to get advertisers in?

    Hey guys,

I am running a webmaster forum for more than 6 months now! And I wanted to monetize the forum by now! I guess it is the right time to do with an alexa of 87k and 30k pageviews monthly!

But there is a problem. I tried to get advertisers, but it looks like no one is interested in sitewide banners on the top ( ? )

What am I doing wrong? Or is it still too early to monetize this forum?

    Some statistics:

    Members: 679
    Threads: 1,777
    Posts: 13,577

The threads - posts amount does prove the forum is active and that people are replying to the threads that are made!! Why is no one interested in buying advertising??

Does anyone has tips or tactics to get advertisers in?? How are you getting advertisers in?

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

You could always offer a free banner placement for a month and then start charging them after that. Advertisers might be more interested as they wont be losing any money while they trial you out.

Maybe make it cheaper or give a discount for longer amounts of time.

$20 a month for a banner in the header?

Stop selling yourself cheap and focus on developing the site so you can honestly charge more.

Get a job and buy advertisement on other websites.

You will probably do better initially with affiliates. Hosting has big payouts, so that may be an option for you. Selling a banner for $20/month to me is hardly worth the effort, so I would do like the others say and work on building the site for now. Adsense might be an option for you too. You could also try some of the contextual stuff like Vibrant Media or Kontera. Most of the top tier ad networks are looking for 1000 uniques a day before they'll talk to you, and they don't really like forums. You might also look into Peer39 who has some forum oriented programs.
