I just started my first blog and am wondering the "checklist" if you will of things every marketer should do after creating a new post to best promote it, like submitting it to here or there or what?

I really appreciate it, thanks all!

Here are some things you can do:

    1. Get involved with other blogs in your niche. And, by this I mean commenting. It may seem like hard work and not to pay off, but your getting exposer
through interaction with fellow people who already have interest.
    2. Write some fresh articles and get them submitted. Articles can give you traffic for years to come if the content is worthy enough.
    3. Join forums, again in your niche and join in the conversation. These people have similar interest, they will be of better quality when visiting your site too.

You have received some great suggestions in this thread so far.

But you can't do just 1 thing and you can't do them all.

Pick 3-5 of them and work them hard everyday. If you think one isn't working drop it and try a different one, but you must do them every day.

All methods take time to work, some take more time than others, there is no single perfect solution.

And while you are busy getting traffic to come to your blog, don't forget to keep writing quality content for your blog so that they will stay once you get them there.

Join more number of forums and do maximum posting and threads with signature- giving an opportunity to make public your site. Also do blog commenting. Having more number of backlinks is really beneficial.

I personaly don't do nothing offline

Now if you have a local site you could try to go to local event and get flyers / business card / small gifts with your URLon thgem and spread those to people ...

If you have a Facebook fan page link your blog to it. Then join all the best groups that relate to your niche and post interesting and helpful comments, including other people's content that the group will find useful. Don't post links to your blog or promotional messages - once you're recognised as a valued contributor others will seek out your fan page and discover your blog for themselves. If they like it chances are they will recommend it to others.

These are all great suggestions. Whichever methods you choose, just be consistent. Once you start pulling traffic and making sales (assuming your blog is monetized), outsource this grunt work, then rinse and repeat.
