What to do if buyer doesn't pay?

Discussion in 'Sites' started by Skribblez, Mar 5, 2006.

Hi, recently I started an auction here at DP, which was listed on multiple forums. A member at v7n took it for BIN, and I have tried contacting him the past day and still no reply, but I'm going to wait a few more hours or maybe even 1 more day.

What happens if he doesn't pay? Do I sell the site to the highest bidder before that, or do I hold the auction again?

    Thanks in advance..

I think it's entirely up to you. If you're fine with selling to the next highest bidder and that person would still like to purchase, do it. If you want to hold the auction again, you can do that, too.

or restart the auction from the last highest bid and run it for 1/2 days. (or however long was left on auction before someone brought it for the BIN)

yeah, i guess what you decide is very much up to you. however, what i would do is to post in the sale thread that the buyer didn't respond and that the site is still up for sale (if it is). that way, it's cleaner and it doesn't raise any suspicions if you want to sell it again later...

that will be a good thing to do - post in the thread where you made the sale so that it lets everyone know if the buyer was a fake one and if the original buyer wasn't able to contact you for some genuine problem, then the buyer can also respond to you in that thread :)

I would give it a few days... it's the weekend and most webmasters take the day off.

I agree. It took me 2 days to pay for a site I bought on Friday. We do this so we don't have to work day in and day out ;)

Come Monday evening and he still hasn't paid though, I'd start thinking about relisting it.

Buyer has responded letting me know they are still interested and would still like to take at BIN, but will not be able to until 10:00 PM GMT -07.00 :) so I guess you guys were right after all.. always good to be fair on the buyer and give them some time ;)

    Thanks for the help :)
