So, I've suddenly gotten a bunch of trackback comments from another blog that is passing my posts off as their own (along with posts from other blogs from the looks of things). What do you guys do in this situation?
Have a parmalink and copyright notice in every post, so that when somebody steals your content, their pages would still link to the original post. Both Google and human reader will know where the original source is. You can try to contact the site owner and ask to remove your post. Then contact the hosting company of the infringing site and let them know that their client infringes you copyright.
Happens all the time. It's usually not worth worrying about. One thing I do though is make sure I include numerous links within the post itself and use a plugin such as Feed Footer or RSS Footer that will display a link to your blog and individual post in the feed automatically.
Yeah, I see this all the time. Probably 99% of the time the blogs that do this look like crap. It happens way too often to try to track down every one of them and contact the owner etc etc I generally include a url to the post or other page on the same blog with a good anchor within the first few words of each post and select "open in the same window". Depending upon the post I also include links in other locations as well (all internal). That way I at least get a link when they do this - although the link probably isnt worth anything from such crappy blogs.
I never worry about it anymore. When I have contacted the offending bloggers it's always the same, "What's the big deal, I gave you the link, but I'll take it down if it upsets you". It's just a bunch of hacks that don't know how to make money.
As long as they give the libnk to original post, I think it's no problem. Place RSS footer plugin to your blog.
This happens to me with every post. It is always some crappy looking blog, sometimes in another language. But if you are seeing it as a trackback, than they did link to you, so no worries.
