All my articles published on www.chuckun.co.uk are unique and written by me. I recently discovered the glories of CopyScape, only to find that my article on Using Facebook to Promote Your Website has been stolen, rewritten by a really rubbish bot and published here: http://facebookuk8067.quebecblogue....cebook-to-assist-your-website-webmaster-blog/] It's evidently stolen because if you look at the url, it includes "Webmaster Blog" the title of my blog.. What I'd like to know, is what can I do about this? How do I go about having the content removed? Go directly to their host? The problem I have is it's a French forum, and I don't speak french... =/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jack
that's the funniest 'spin' I've ever seen! I wouldn't worry about it - it won't get them any traffic, and will probably get the whole blog delisted. It's a good job they don't use a state of the art spinner, your job would be a lot harder, because (for example) the content could have been rewritten to THIS standard:- "There are several techniques of marketing your website using numerous social networking promotion methodologies. But today I am going to concentrate on Facebook's Group pages. If helps if you already have a facebook account with heaps of pals who are probably going to join your group if they get a personalise invitation from you ( I'll explain this later in this post ). However, you do not basically need ANY buddies, as you can invite your whole e-mail book, or to selected emails. I'll explain all this in the post. Firstly you must make a facebook group." [snip]
Thanks for your response contentboss It did make me laugh reading it... I wondered if I'd make sense of it at all if I didn't know what it actually said originally >.< I guess you're right, this really isnt worth chasing up.. It's clearly a ripped article, and if anyone can actually make sense of that article without having read my original / having my original for reference, then good luck to them >.< Thanks again [+rep for your response btw] Jack
I find this really ironic... THIS topic I've made has actually been stolen too, by some warez forum.. =/ http://whwh.org/legal-issues/156518-what-do-about-article-theft.html] Lol?!
You have to keep in mind that there is a lot of people out there that use autoblogging software that in effect just grabs RSS feeds and pumps it into their sites. That is one good reason to just publish summaries in your RSS feeds with a link back to your site for the full article or make sure that you include a link back to your original article in your full RSS feeds. That way you at least get some links from the theft.
I was thinking about that myself... I will certainly add some links at various stages of each RSS feed post. Thanks!
Is there actually any DMCA action you can take? This is the sort of thing I was interested in... To scare people out of this sort of thing mainly... Thanks PPAgent01! Jack
