How do you pick your pages for deep linking? Either for directory submissions or blog comment posting, etc. ? Do you use any particular order or prioritize them in any way ?
I would only deep link pages that are important or have a good chance of being listed well in search engines.
a website may have ton of pages. not every single pages need to be deep linked. find out few pages that are keyword rich and have some good content.
Deep link to the pages that are most lucrative for you. Find out which pages generate the most sales, subscriptions, clicks, etc and link to those. I'm assuming, of course, that the pages are already optimized and SE friendly.
Depends on the site. If I were submitting deep links promoting a blog, I would deep link the main categories. Individual posts are more likely to be crawled by the SE's and linked to naturally/social bookmarking. The main categories are the weakest point of the link so that it what I would focus on.
So you mean as in mysite.com/categoryname ? Shouldn't those pages be blocked by robots.txt because otherwise you get duplicate content ?
That's one way of dealing with duplicate content, but I was always the one trying to get every last page indexed. Between plugins and templates, your blog and category pages can be SE friendly. Below is some info on category pages. If all else fails, Google custom WP category pages. http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates
