What to buy if "youname.com" is taken?

    what would you go with? The person sitting on myname.com is squatting trying to sell it to me for $15k..lol

    do you go with .net?.org?.me?.tv? or your-name.com?

    or

    forget it all together and get a slogan instead?

    mine same position like you. I have gone with .org extension.
    I won't let the .com domain to be rank 1 or in 1st page in google search for that name.

    .com is best domain to rank well on search engines, however if the .com domain is not available then i will go for .net

    most .com domains are easily sold so you can go for .net, .org and other extension. another option is to create a new domain name with .com extension

    If you can prove they are doing it in bad faith you could technically take your case to the World Intellectual Property Organization. There is already precedents for this (for instance, Carlos Slim and the $55m squatter)

    Obviously your not going to bother with this, but interesting nevertheless.
