Hi I am thinking about using an outsourced SEO company for our marketing and wondering if anyone had any tips on what I should be asking when contacting them to make sure I don't get ripped off and would recognise more whether someone knows what they are talking about.

Just ask them for some of the past work they did, ask about results they achieve. Also don't forget to confirm it with past customers/ clients. One more thing you want to confirm the method they use, make sure they use only white hat techniques and nothing spammy.

If they provide backlinks, ask them where they come from, at least how they plan to obtain them.

Also, take a look at how their website ranks...This is usually a good indicator of how effective their work is.
