I am trying to find a way to know exactly what kind of stuff sells on Craigslist, (I'm not interested in selling the bigger items like cars, motorcycles, trailers - but I am interested in selling the smaller stuff - like tables, furniture, computers, iphones, tools, lawnmowers, And the only thing I can think of as a way of figuring out what sells is.... I only have figured out that Craigslist is good for bikes and furniture, because I copied and pasted a bunch of peoples ads in particular categories just for a test to see how many responses I would get, and I found out that posting peoples bike ads and furniture ads got a lot of responses - so I knew if I posted items like them, I would indeed get a lot of responses, and make some money at it too. A few days later after I found out that fact, I bought a used bike at a garage sale for $10, and put it on Craigslist. I got a total of 3 calls within the first few days, and by the 3rd call, I had sold it for $30, and that was my first sale using Craigslist I have ever had. But I don't think my testing process is going smoothly anymore or as smoothly as I want to. Sometimes, people flag my fake posts. I wish there was an easier way to figure all this out to see what type of products are in demand. Some of the peoples ads I posted were a stove, microwave, 3 pc/monitor, a washing machine, a Kolcraft bassinet, and a microwave. The only response I got was from the stove. 1 response total. I posted all these ads on Thursday around 4:30-8 pm. Now these were items I had previously heard about that were commonly selling on Craigslist. Now I have also posted items that I actually DO have - such as a Craftsman electric weed wacker, an iron bird cage, a floor lamp, a floor fan - with no responses. I live about 45 minutes to an hour away from Detroit, Michigan.
Dog Kennels. I had 3 that I picked up really cheap, I put them on Craigslist and sold them all within a day. I got at least 20 emails in 2 days before I deleted the ad. My guess would be a lot of things dog related, like dog houses etc. would sell well al
I have had much success selling camera equipment and accessories. Just be sure that the price that you are asking is below all other sources and you also should have the ability to go lower because no one likes to pay your asking price.
Ebay has this little page showing what sells best on it. I know, it's not craigslist, but I think you can get some insights from there: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Items-That-Sell-The-Best-on-eBay-Or-At-Least-Sell-/10000000001384782/g.html
I think you should find a way to determine what products sell well on Craigslist. Who buys them and where they are. That will help you answer your question.
People sell many used electronic devices on craigslist. Sometimes they sell new but there are more used stuff. And you know what? Sometimes I prefer bying things from craigslist then from ebay.
