I started a new forum called answerspots Its a general answers forum about anything. I was wondering what you all look at when you find a new forum? Is it how active it seems such as threads? is thier a certain number of post? Or is it something so simpile as just a theme you like. I've been trying to rank for keywords, such as Forum, Forums, General chat i've only been up for two weeks so any suggestions would be higly valued on how everyone thinks .

When i join forum,i will look at the quality of the content first.
If there are few people, then i will not join.
You should hire some poster to post at your forum to make it more active.

Generally old established forums are preferred.

I look for relevant information. Without enough traffic, it gets boring.
DP is great for that! Always something happening!

I look for how active the forum, how many members does it have and quality of the content.

I think its hard to start forums nowadays specially if its general forum because for one I visit like more than a dozens of forums already regularly and I dont think I can ad one more.

The most important thing to me is how active the forum is. If I see people posting threads and no one is answering until days, weeks or even months later...then I'm guessing that place is dead. Second thing I pay attention to is how the members treat each other. If there's a lot of arguing, fighting, cursing, name-calling, "cyber-thugging," etc., then I'm more than likely not gonna join.

If you want to make your forum active. Try to use different people or hire them as well. So that if an individual is going to join your forum they will see that there are a lot of members who are always in and active. If your forum doesn't have any informative and helpful post I think they will not join try to make your forum a great and helpful for visitors so they will stay in touch..

^ We have the same opinion :) I really don't join in forums who doesn't have a good members. What's the essence of particiapting in forums whom you can't interact.

Yeah its all about the members and how many are currently active and communicating with each other. Next would be the quality of each members posts and the last quality would be the topics you have layed out on the forum to talk about.

When I join a forum, I look for active members who reply to your post basically a community. Just like what everyone else basically said.
