Any who saw my earlier post, about my wife being un-comfy with my newbie-ness and possible horrific naivte (see here), knows that (a) I lack experience and (b) I'm actively seeking to gain some. In the course of evaluating various websites for sale, I applied some project/business valuation methodology to the sites I was looking at. Basically, you can plug in some assumptions (or, preferably, actual data) with respect to things like the opportunity cost of capital (what you'd expect similarly risky investments to return) purchase price and incremental investments, in things like copywriting and SEO traffic sources, including average SEM costs, including annual CPC change sell-page conversion rates any other variable costs other fixed and semi-variable costs long-term sales growth rate ... etc. The model generates a present value for the site based on a discounted cash-flow (DCF) analysis for 1, 3 and 5 years. Basically, if the PV is positive, it's a good investment at your cost of capital and purchase price. If not, you either need to pay less... or move along. There's at least one affiliate product in the marketplace I'm aware of that's sort of similar, but I purchased it (after making my own; hadn't seen it before), and I think mine's better in several ways. So, I'm thinking of investing a little extra effort to turn it into an honest-to-goodness product (mostly just some monkeying in Excel) and selling it online. My questions are: Generally, do you feel there's a market for a product like this? Generally, what kind of price would you expect for such a product? Assume that the price includes access to all future versions in perpetuity Would you, specifically, be interested in such a product? If so, what would you be willing to pay for it? (Assume a WSO) I know this is kind of a long post, so I'll end it here. I'm eager to hear your thoughts. If you're interested in seeing a demo (I'm not ready to send around the file yet), PM me. Thanks, all!
