Alexa is being Alexa You actually need to be doing about 1000 a day to get below the 100K mark.. which I assume is what you are saying what the hell about. Don't be concerned with it.. just pay attention to your traffic stats in trends and compete.. those metrics are far more valuable and accurate anyhow.
alexa will only record those traffic coming from a computer that has "alexa" toolbar installed (IMHO)
It is best to look at the 1 week average to get a better idea of how your site ranks in Alexa, especially if your site is under 3 months old. Cheers James
That is strange, The site which I gave the stats for a few post up, is getting anywhere from 700 to 900 visits (not unique) per day, If them stats stay the same for 3 months I would have thought that the site would be in the top 100,000. (based on the one week average) Perhaps it has something to do with the average number of page views as well. (that site get an average 6 page views per person) Cheers James
"Alexa measures according to the amount of users who’ve visited a website with the Alexa toolbar installed and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis". But for me Alexa ranking is based on the number of links that is pointed to your site and does not correlated with the unique visitors of the site. But the webmasters use your Alexa rank as to determine the worth of a link on your website. But the question is that " alexa rankings meaningless or useful in anyway?"
Indeed I get around 600-1500 daily and my alexa ranking is around 300k on my forum at myfreemoneyforum.com
LOL using a .co.cc domain makes it more weird.. my 2 month old proxy is at 568 rank.. because of .co.cc XD
Alexa doesn't count ranks of subdomains hence this rank(568) belongs to www.co.cc and not your proxy site
Alexa's traffic rankings are based on the usage patterns of Alexa Toolbar users and data collected from other, diverse sources over a rolling 3 month period. A site's ranking is based on a combined measure of reach and pageviews. Reach is determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single pageview. The site with the highest combination of users and pageviews is ranked #1. Read more here: http://www.alexa.com/site/help/?index=12
only web masters have alexa, and i would be perfectly happy if no webmasters are going on my sites... they only make up 0.00001% of the web pop...
