This happened to me twice in this month....! I have bought (won the bid) 2 domains PR4 at TDNAM so far for this month (around $50 each). Before I won the bid (PR4), it clearly stated that the PR4 IS VALID (green bar) at all pagerank checker site like Domainpagerank.com, Digpagerank.com and Checkpagerank.net. The domain actually has a good name and it 7 years aged. Got many histories at Archive.org and not a banned domain (I've checked it). Expiration Date: 2009-01-07 Creation Date: 2001-01-07 After I've got a full ownership on this domain (just received an email from TDNAM Godaddy.com 5 minutes ago), I am so happy because I think I can sell it or build a site with that PR4 status but unluckily, the PR is going fake in a sudden. Why this thing happened and how the pagerank changed to the fake one? Damn... if you think this is my "luck", then don't be to happy my friend because this thing can be happened to you too. Any idea about this? Thanks!
I don't pay any attention to PR whatsoever so I can't help you there. But there are a few things that come to mind. One is the name being parked during it's expired time at godaddy affecting it. Another is Google got accredited primarily for monitoring whois activity in association with their search results and rankings. So the name going into expired status and then eventually a new owner may be a ranking reset at google. Don't imagine for one second they aren't hip to new domain trends. They hosted attendees at the Google complex during one and attend a good number of the domain conferences.
Did you check for backlinks? Backlinks can drop at any time and if it has been on the auction block for some time there is a good chance of links getting dropped. Archives usually indicate a website history and should not be taken as a firm indicator of pagerank IMHO
have happened the SAME with me today! hahah i bought a valid pr4 at tdnam, today i have recieved the domain, and guess what? fake pagerank! buh
I would disregard any page rank on tdnam auctions and just base your purchase on all the other features and then if the pr is lost then you don't lose. You now need to spend some time promoting the domain to get the rank up again if it is important to you. Personally I prefer creating content etc over getting links in.
from your first post, you stated that the pagerank is valid, then after the transfer it became pr 0? probably a coincident since pr update is currently changing. ihave a pr 3 arcade site and now pr 0.
