What the hell is going on on DP?

    Hi Everyone

I have been on DP for a long time now.

I used to find this forum very interesting with all the information it contained, comments from experts, the trading platforms here even making use of experts in web design ad development.

I remember a time, not too long ago, when you posted a job here and a large number of quality experts would reply to your post and jump in to do the work. They would also do the work correctly and fast.

Lately I am experiencing a number of inexperienced users trying to take on big development jobs. I also experienced an increasing number of scammers on DP. These are scammers taking your money and then not do the job at all or only half-way.

As example, this user - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=133890 - bids on work, he gets the job and ask for upfront payment. He takes my website info and upload a Phishing site. Then he dissappears and dont do the development at all.

Another user simply starts the work and never completes is. He asked for 50% downpayment and dissappeared.

Now, I dont care about losing the $500, but last year I spent more than $7500 on programmers here on DP.

Where are all the good developers?

Are DP turning into a trap by scammers?

Hey Rian, I agree with you too. I myself had some of these instances with my newly bought domain since last two weeks. I paid one guy 15% of the total payment upfront when he did not even have the courtesy to say that he is not worth for the job. The second person himself disappeared after our early talks to make a new website. It been almost more than two weeks now that I bought this new domain. There not a single person here who has completed the job for me :(

Now I myself have become skeptical in giving jobs or posting threads for new jobs here. You never know you will get doomed very easily.

The fact is - the problems will remain until scammers start getting banned - and fluff posts get locked.

may be this is fact.. but its nt mean like that all programmers or all persons are like that. Because of some people, all people are blamed. its nt good.. well, this is ur personal experience. I would like to suggest just if you are going to give anybody work then get all information abt him or her. and give payment after completed half work and give half payment after done whole work.

you should look at the itrader of the person before hiring.
There are lots of good developers/programmers in DP, you just have look at their reputation to really distinguish the legit ones.

This may be a dumb question, but why are the spammers not banned immediately? I know the purpose is to not discriminate as the majority of the dp spammers are base in India. But a spammer is a spammer, no matter where you're from!

easy answer is do not pay until work is completed to your satisfaction there are ways to do this, personally if I am paying a lot of money for something I always talk to the person first on Skype or other means and set up rules before payment.

The ones that we know are spammers, we do.

So far, there have been 87,183 accounts that have been flat out deleted before they were end able to make their first post. And another 26,000+ banned members.

If you see a spammer that slipped through, just use the Report Post function.

Well in every Where you will find every Kind Of Person...you Have To select Right one.you Make thread for the job,and Lots Of People apply for the Job so you have To chose One Of Them, you Must check there Previous work and Profile On DP,when They create Account How much they have Itrades and did they Mention The work In There Profile which he gonna apply.I think you can integrate a person by there Profile.Like I am Web web developer If i did not mention in skill section that i am doing web development then dont ever give job to me.

    Hi everyone

I am not only referring to this person alone! In fact, he is ALSO gone with my money, but I am not only complaining about him.

I have been targeted by scammers about a dozen times the last month.

I have posted a number of jobs here on DP (I know I can go to freelancer sites, but for many years I have been part of DP and would rather pay developers here than go elsewhere) and recently the quality developers are getting less and less.

I just made this post referring to activities in general.

Are you sure that if mods/admin ban spammers then people of India will take it as discriminatory move? I disagree.
I'm an Indian and I never felt good watching people of my country talking BS and spamming threads just to raise up post counts. I am against it and I do believe that most of the people will agree here.
you are right..' a spammer is a spammer, no matter where you're from!'

    .
The main reason is too many spammer, they are offering very cheap price (just because they no need to work for it) and the buyer are looking for "cheap" without really check on them such as previous sample, itrade etc. Many quality service provider are leaving because they are not getting job here since they are "expensive" compare to those "spammer".
