What the heck with Wikipedia?

I need some advices to keep my links on Wikipedia. I've added free personal tools to use on-line on one of my site, with links from Wikipedia (English, Spanish and French) on specific pages.
After one month, 90% of the English links are still present and used, but nearly all links have been removed the same day or the day after from the French and Spanish pages due to one guy in each language. I've put them back two weeks later with the same result, being called a spammer.
The fact that the English links are not removed and drive traffic means to me that those tools are useful or at least that there's a need for them. I don't want to create useless discussions with those two guys who seem very active in cleaning Wikipedia. If I'm a spammer to their eyes, they won't get my point, and I don't want my English links to be removed if I draw their attention to them.

Did you have some similar issues with Wikipedia? How did you manage it?

Forget it for some time... and come back after one or two months.

Put some links to other pages as well. Make sure it looks non-advertising...

Sounds like you're spamming. I don't blame the editors for removing your link, I'd do the same.

Forget adding external links, it's nearly impossible for a marketer to do that nowadays. Try to get in under a citation (reference) instead.

I wouldn't call it spamming, as the tools are used from en.wikipedia, which means they meet a real need.
The idea is to get the visitors to visit the rest of the site, but they can use the tool and leave.

Well, a major traffic link has been removed on en.wikipedia in between. I guess everybody has their own definition of spamming :(

Getting anything on Wikipedia is very difficult. Generally their rule is, if you are self promoting, forget it. If a "third" party thinks you are worthy enough to talk about, or link to, than they will.

It is spamming if you're submitting your own link. They spell that out very clearly in their instructions.

Your English link stayed up because no one noticed, not because it is more valuable.

When you have edited a page, you can request to be notified of any future edits which is why they catch you. Coming back in 6 months probably won't change that fact.

It isn't easy to game, which is why it is highly regarded content.
