I think there is definitely potential, but I for one have yet to crack the code just yet. I am hopeful, however. I think it would be cool if there was something like localized twitter or something like that. I'm currently playing this game on my droid that utilizes the twitter platform in order to get real help from other players. The game is similar to farmville in the respect that you need outside help in order to continue for more than a certain block of time at a time. In case you are wondering...the game is called "Life is crime" and, yes, I am addicted, but also utterly fascinated that people are spending real hard money in order to progress sooner in this freakin game. All communication is done via tweets. Anyway, I'm sure there is potential but everything has its appropriate applications...its up to us to figure out how to leverage.
Really? Well, some of them may have done it. From my personal perspective, I'm not that very lazy to open Google Translator to check what this or that phrase means, if I need to, and I wouldn't complain about the foreign languages.
@Technary - no problem. In fact, I am currently trying to live his examples. Social Marketing is really about engaging. Hope to find out what you think of it if you find the time to get around to it.
You need to specify which sphere, professional, or personal sphere you're talking about. If to speak about personal use - Twitter is a large social network, where you can share your thoughts, or photos with your friends, read what celebrities post, and find new acquaintances. In terms of marketing, Twitter is really useful for driving traffic to your site (that is, make it more visited by users)
for me twitter is the most easy to use social networking site. it is much easier to create an account compared to other. you can easily promote on twitter by just posting tweets/updates. you can easily get updated with for example your favorite artist by just easily following them.
I do not like conception of Twitter, i do not want to share my thoughts, it's no matter for me what celebrities posts, i just want to communicate with my friend by sending messages to each other, because of that FB is more interesting to me. Maybe you right, maybe Twitter is really useful for driving traffic or something else, but i do not like it.
I have already experienced the countless benefits of twitter to my business. Since twitter generate huge traffic it gives me potential customers for my product and services. And these are some other benefits of twitter: Ease of use for online users, Availability of many free apps, Huge market and there is Viral capabilities.
@Endless Rain - Its definitely for those that are a big higher up in understanding. I, for one, can appreciate it, however, I am reluctant to pursue harnessing it, but that is probably a matter of my personal circumstance. Its probably something I'll want to revisit further down in my career.
Well, of course, as soon as you face a sort of necessity to promote your business, SMO (and the usage of Twitter for it, in particular) will become an essential aspect to take into account
it's good if you're a celebrity, that way you can attract a lot of followers. yes sometimes it's cool to tell others what you're doing but it annoys very soon. that's just me.
Well, if you're getting to the point of tweeting every single move, it's not just annoying, it's irritating, on the other hand, Twitter is, undoubtedly, great in terms of promoting yourself, or your business
Twitter is really good site, through it you can get lot of information and also good for seo, if you get link from twitter being a high PR site it link willl surely increase your weightage in google rankings.
[h=2]Twitter is Easy to Join[/h] Advantage: It takes less than a minute to create an account with Twitter and start "tweeting." The rules of the game are pretty straightforward. Registration is instant, and there is no need to follow up with a confirmation email. Disadvantage: because Twitter is so easy to join, virtually everyone has a Twitter account, so their server tends to get overloaded easily. It's not uncommon to have trouble connecting to Twitter's site.
Totally agree with the statement of connection errors. As for the phrase with everyone having a Twitter account, I would argue, pretty much because of the fact that many of my friends don't have accounts there.
