    Hey everyone. :)

I just wanted to know what tax software you use to file income taxes, organize your taxes, etc. I know of TurboTax, and I'm sure a lot of people use it or a similar program.

Do tell me what YOU use. :D
Also, does anyone *by any chance* know of any free tax software?

    Awaiting your replies.

My tax software is my accountant. :) I have done it both ways and in the end for myself I have found it much easier and less hastle to have a professional take care of it.

I have used TaxCut for about 12 years. I started with them when they first rolled it out and have stayed. It is about half the cost of TurboTax when you factor in the State edition which I need.

I think both offer a free download that will let you prepare but not file your return. A try before you buy type thing.

Really I doubt there is a lot of functional difference between the two of them.

If you follow the outline and have nothing out of the ordinary they will do a great job for wages, small business, capital gains, interest and dividend and rental income. Taxcut gets a little weak if you have farm income. There was one other thing that made me think a bit a few years back. It too was an "unusal item". Worst case on the unusual items is that it drops you to the IRS form to fill out.

They are geared toward the average user.

Personally I use TaxAct.com, but business wise with the help of Quickbooks, my accountant takes care of the rest.
