Dear forum gurus, I am looking to surprise my girlfriend by re-designing her website. I'm looking to use WordPress so that I customize a pre-built template (I'm not a designer, but can find my way around editing an existing template) and so that I can teach her to be self-sufficient with WordPress' easy to use interface. I remember her commenting that she loves Tori Spelling's boutique website www.inventori.com. While I have no desire of copying the website, I have tried my best to find even a remotely similar website template as this one (yes, I know she probably forked out a ton of $$$ to Volusion to have a custom website built). So far I have searched "vintage", "antique", "couture" and "shabby chic" and have not found anything remotely like it. Is there a term/website that anybody knows that can lead me in the right direction here? I'd be most appreciative for any help you can provide. Thank you so much in advance, Google'd Out Boyfriend
First research the market and find out competitor website and target audience, based on that you can select the website theme.
Creativewebmaster, Thank you for your response. The market and target audience are very much in line with the website that I reference. That coupled with the fact that she mentioned to me previously that she really liked that type of design lead me to 1,000 Google searches and eventually here for help. I have a feeling that there is a word to describe this style that escapes me. Any help this forum can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you again.
As I mentioned, I can edit/customize pre-built templates, but my skills are not quite up to par to create a WordPress template from scratch. Just looking for a good starting point, hopefully somebody can help.
Hey have you checked out themeforest for some themes? I think that style is Victorian . The kinda style my mom likes and I can't stand lol.
Yeah it's def Victorian especially with that background wallpaper. Here's an example I found on Google http://wordpressthemesbase.com/view/254.html , it's pretty ugly but it is also classified as Victorian , Renaissance might also pull up some good ideas too.
