I have a few sites that I use primarily as a method of selling consulting services. On some I run Google and Adbrite ads to defray expenses but it is by no means the focus of my effort. Last month I had a site Guid To Selling a Business that generated over $20 in Adsense revenue. Although I devote about a third of the advertising space to Adbrite is produces about a $0.05 a month in revenue and I'm sick of the disparity so I want to replace the banner on the left with affiliate programs. I have applied for shareasale but was also thinking about finding individual affiliate programs to do deals with. My worry is that an without an intermediary like shareasale on every ad the site I am referring to will have little incentive to provide an accurate accounting and pay the commissions they owe. What can people with relatively low volume websites tell me about joining individual affiliate programs? Is it worth the time and effort? Thanks,
Definitively yes, is it worth the time and effort! I have two websites with low volume of traffic, both of them - but I am earning some money with my affiliate programs, even I don't have too much traffic. I am showing CPM ads in my websites, instead of CPC ads like Adsense, Adbrite, Adhitz and others, because they are paying for every 1000 banner views, my visitors don't need to click the ads but I am getting paid anyway - and together of these CPM ads I am showing different affiliate banners that pays for leads; I did choose some affiliate networks that pays on free sign-ups, so my visitors don't need to buy anything
