Cricket, it's a team game and requires 2 teams of 11 players to finally come to the field and use the tools like ball, bat and wickets to implement some set of rules.
You guys already know how Americans are obsessed with Football but hopefully one day we will come to our senses and we will all be in love with Futbol, Ping Pong, or at least the original American sport, Baseball.
I am here in the Philippines and by far the most popular sport is basketball. Basketball courts everywhere, even in the streets.

Participation in 3 of the 4 big North American sports are down, only hockey is up. The growing sports in the US are hockey, lacrosse and rugby. Soccer is not one of the big professional sports and it is down in participation. Hockey has been growing for decades in teh US, I hear almost every lacrosse player I run into say that where they are from is "the lacrosse hot bed", and now I see some NFL players taking an interest in rugby. Futbol, Ping Pong, and Baseball aren't going to see a surge in interest. Ping Pong.....yeah, Americans will turn off the Super Bowl, the World Series, NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup to watch a game they know from summer camp recreation room. LOL
In Chile the most popular is undeniably Futbol. However, Tennis, rugby, basketball and skating (all kinds of it) are also very popular.

Football is the game in the UK, although rugby, cricket, tennis and other sports do run it close at times.
Long distance running is most popular in our country, marathon to be specific. Every year our country must break a world record, whether it’s at the Olympics or any other championships, in fact one of our runners leapfrogged to the end of the finish line and was third! Can you imagine how amazing that was? That explains why the sport is so popular in my country.
