Well............ i think all out door games are effective in losing weight but in my opinion i will say football is the game which is more effective in losing weight.
Swimming is good to fit your body and control your weight. By the way all sports are good for health. i suggest you to play cricket, football and hockey to reduce weight and also make you fit.
swimming is really great and helps the bones and torn ligiments in the mean time...also light weight training with cardio does it well...if you are man enough...2 months of Cross Country gave me a 6 pack (almost 8 pack)

Almost all sports, in that they are sports because they are physical, will contribute to weight (fat) loss, but really find one you love and go with it, assuming it has a moderate to high activity level. A sport you love will keep you dedicated and interested in putting more and more time into it, meaning more fat loss and fitness success. Some sports that are excellent though are swimming, rugby, martial arts, soccer, basketball, various forms of running and cycling, etc. Some are more intensive on the joints that others (such as impact sports-martial arts, rugby, football), so keep that in mind as well.
Yeah, really just about anything that is highly active. Swimming and swimming sports, wrestling definitely, just running or cycling if you're into that kind of sport. Soccer/basketball if you're into team sports, etc.
Rugby always worked awesome for me. Nothing like a 250 pound dude chasing you to get the ol ticker pumping.

I think it is football because it incorporates various forms of exercises: jumping, running, walking fast...
